The node projects are presented as an alternative for degree work based on applied research in the field of education. The objective is to get a group of students (15 to 20) to investigate around a specific theme from different perspectives in which the director of the work organizes subgroups facilitating both collaborative work and cooperative work. Two success stories are presented detailing what was done in each of the phases through which the document is developed for a year and a half. Experience shows how when doing it in a planned and organized way, the proposed objectives are achieved with all the rigor that applied research implies. Each of the projects ends with a dissemination product with the purpose of supporting knowledge management and recognition of the work done. Each phase entails subphases in times and activities defined to comply with what was initially agreed. This type of project has promoted the diversity in the development of topics with local, regional and international scope, aspects that are appropriate to the academic program from where they are gestated. There are several factors that affect the two successful cases that are shared: the leadership of the person directing, the commitment of each and every one of the students who opt for this alternative, the exhaustive search of recent bibliographical sources that account for the current state of of each theme, the research methodology used and the variety of sub-themes that arise within each project.
